A bureaucrat’s rare feat

A bureaucrat who has been dealing with the chief minister relief fund (CMRF) has succeeded in tightening noose around the government officials who made it a habit  to draw medical expenses from both  their  respective departments as well as from CMRF, using their proximity to some politicians. The bureaucrat applied a simple thing to stop  them from getting away with the double payment malpractice. The bureaucrat unleashed the local Intelligence Unit (lIU) on them to pry into them. Unnerved, the officials prayed to the bureaucrat to rid them of the  lIU’s prying eyes. Finding them  in the plight he had goaded them to land into, the bureaucrat asked them to give a written undertaking, stating clearly that they would not any longer withdraw money  from the CMRF, flaunting their clout  with the politicians.   According to sources, the  number  of the officials who used to avail themselves of the double payment both from their departments and the CMRF for a long time is considerably large.

Idle preaching

A senior IPS officer is now engaged in cursing the system and the media alike. Notably, the cop failed to grab a plum post  in     Kumaon division despite  relentless lobbying for some time.  Presently, he preaches feverishly to whoever visits him, pouring his anger over the conscience  of the system having  stopped pricking. His main target is, however, the media. He  loves to hate media  for its ingrained habit to reflect police always in the negative  light.  He tends to gloss over the  fact that the cops are not doing any charity  for the people. The media’s role is to expose where they  falter and not  to glorify what they are duty-bound to do. A police officer confided that the IPS  is trying  his best to come to the mainstream policing. He stayed put in  one particular place for more than three years.
