District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun Ravi Nath Raman presided over Tehsil Diwas programme held at Kalsi on Tuesday. In the programe 123 complaints were received out of 37 were disposed off on the spot. Raman said that the departments concerned are informed about the complaints and the department heads are directed to solve the plaints relating to repair etc within a time period of 25 days while a time frame of 1.5 month was provided for complaints requiring construction activity. The DM also ordered that departmental action would be initiated against those involved in keeping the complaints pending for three months and more. The disposal of such pending complaints would be done by Director level officers.
Most of the complaints of the people pertained to the departments of PWD, Transport, Health, Social Welfare, Education, Power and drinking water. The complainants alleged that the teachers posted in Chakrata and Kalsi reside in far off places like Dehradun and Doiwala and from there they commuted daily. They alleged that these teachers are either absent from their duties or arrive late in the schools. The villagers also told the DM that Panchayat Development officers also remain absent from their offices. In a shocking revelation they said that the most of the meetings are convened illegally in places like Kalsi and Vikasnagar instead of villages. The absence of doctors in the health centres was also a common complaint with people telling the DM that they have to rush their patients to Dehradun or Vikasnagar for minor pathology tests. The complainants said that the transport facilities are not available in the remote areas due to which they have to be dependent on the private vehicles who ferry more than the stipulated number of passengers. On these complaints the DM said that the SDMs should get information regarding the presence of teachers in the schools by 10 in morning through Patwaris. Similarly he asked the officers to regularly visit the areas under their jurisdiction.
