lack of parking space at police stations continues
Dehradun: lack of parking space for vehicles at various police stations and police posts has remained an issue yet to be resolved by the authorities. This was exemplified recently when an impounded bus was driven away by unidentified persons from the ISBT police post. Police sources said that police posts are set up but there is limited space for parking the vehicles impounded in various cases. Vehicles involved in cases in process in the court of law, those seized by the police for varied violations of traffic regulations, vehicles used in committing crimes and other unclaimed vehicles are managed by the police facing the lack of adequate space. In Patelnagar area, Vikasnagar circle area and others on an average around 500 vehicles have been seized so far with the vehicles being parked in the open without much security or even a boundary wall. It is stated that thousands of vehicles of varying proportions are seized by the authorities for various reasons during a year. The ISBT police had seized a city bus which was involved in a mishap that had resulted in the death of a woman hit by the bus on February 15. Police had parked the seized bus outside ISBT police post which lacks proper parking space or boundary wall. Next day, the same city bus was stolen by unidentified persons. SSP Dr Sadanand Date said that lack of parking space for vehicles in the ISBT post resulted in city bus being stolen. However teams have been formed to resolve the case.
