Adhesive-fueled debate
People who go to meet a person who wields immense influence, given his perceived proximity to the Chief Minister, get baffled, seeing him wearing a gem attached to his ring finger with an adhesive. If asked, the person comes out with a ready reply that he cannot afford to go for a gold ring as it costs money much beyond him. It fuels a debate whether the reason he presents is justified. Many who are soft on him explain things this way that he is practising non-attachment, called niskama. Though wallowing in filthy wealth, he has taken a vow of poverty, they say. However, some say that the cellotape-stuck gem is a kind of ruse to flummox people into believing that he is a paragon of honesty amidst an abundance of dishonesty. .
Mystified Babudom
The recent re-jig of Babudom has confounded confusion about the motive behind the move aside from making it clear who is pulling the strings in the Chief Minister Office from behind the screen. It was a mortal shock for the head Babu who was supposed to call the shots, given his hierarchical position, as none of his loyalists was humoured the way they had expected. The Babus, crest-fallen, realized to their woe that one person who is presently lording over CMO had managed to impose his own men in the most sought-after positions, bypassing the head Babu. The Baubudom is perplexed, seeking to find method in the apparent madness of promoting corruption-tainted bureaucrats to the posts they had craved for. "There must be something behind this baffling re-jig. We are mystified," said a Babu despairingly.
