Rahu-Ketu wrinkle on CM’s brow

With political volatility in the aftermath of Vijay Bahuguna’s quit-threat in Delhi impinging the confidence of the Harish Rawat regime, his close confidantes are in deep trouble.  Take, for instance, one of them, known in the corridors of power as Rahu of the Chief Minister’s orbit. He is now facing the heat of things. What happened is that Rahu made two engineers cough up Rs 20 lakh for plum postings a few months back.

With the money being spent and things stagnating, Rahu is facing the wrath of the engineers who are pressuring him to return the sum. Bogged thus in a slushy hole, Rahu sought to sweep things under the carpet. But another known as Ketu who also enjoys confidence of the CM and with whom Rahu has been at daggers drawn for years has pitched in to spite Rahu.

Compounding the woe of already beleaguered Rahu, Ketu, hell-bent on finishing Rahu off once and for all, is egging the hapless engineers to go all out. Rahu is mortally scared, for there is a chilling precedent in Debbhoomi of one such favour-seeker beating one of the former CM’s confidantes black and blue after he failed to either meet the commitment made or return the sum.

DM’s 10 Janpath feat

The babudom sounds stupefied with a district magistrate having conjured up a letter purportedly written by the Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi, asking the Chief Minister to extend the DM’s term by two months. Aside from the nicety over the party president stooping to the extent of commanding a Chief Minister over such a trifle, the eagerness of the concerned DM to cling to his post for the next couple of months intrigues curiosity.

Significantly, the   State Government is all set to fix things related to allocation of liquor license and renewal of mining lease in the next two months for the financial year 2015-16. The ‘mystified’ Babus, agog with excitement, are for the riddle unraveled. Some say it must be a spurious letter. However, the question is - who will have it authenticated with the enigmatic lady of 10, Jan Path being involvedIJ  By way of a cog in the deepening riddle, a sugar mill clerk had earlier  collected a letter signed by then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in which  the former PM had asked  the CM not to transfer him.
