Biometric registration of Nanda Raj Jat pilgrims soon

After successfully implementing the biometric registration for the pilgrims of Char Dham Yatra and Kanwarias, the state government would also provide this facility for the Yatris of Nanda Raj Jat Yatra. The Yatra which is considered as the symbol of unique cultural identity of Uttarakhand would start from August 18 from Nouti village of Chamoli district.

The General Manager of Trilok Security System India Private limited (TSSIPl) Shriniwas M told The Pioneer that the company has send a technical team to the Yatra route which would assess things like network connectivity  and decide the places where the registration/ verification counters would be opened.

The TSSIPl was handed over the task of biometric registration of Chardham Yatris this year. After the success of Chardham Yatra registration, the company was entrusted the arduous task of registering the Kanwadias. Shriniwas said that the company operates such systems at Tirupati, Hyderabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Katra and Ajmer and do not charge anything from either the government or the pilgrims for its services.

He said that though the Yatra starts from 18 the company would start its work from August 21 when the Yatra reaches Nandkesari. Shriniwas said that the company would use the services of three mobile vans for registration of the Nanda Raj Jat Yatris. The State Government decided to have the biometric registration of the Yatris after the disaster of last year when the hundreds of pilgrims were reported missing in absence of any registration mechanism.

At the biometric registration counter the picture of Yatris is captured and the information like Name, address, phone number, registration of vehicle number (If any) and place of pilgrimage are saved in the system which generates a bar code. Every pilgrim is given a card on which a bar code is pasted. The company uses the space available at the back of registration card for commercial advertisement.
