RTO TO lAUNCH DRIVE AGAINST POllUTING VEHIClES

Dehradun: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Dehradun is gearing itself to launch a drive against polluting vehicles in the State capital. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) RP Rathore said that the department would constitute many teams for an extensive drive against pollution emitting vehicles. He said that the teams of the department would be very strict on owners of such vehicles and penalties would be slapped on the erring persons. The number of pollution emitting vehicles of the Doon valley is estimated to be in the thousands. Though the department conducts regular checks these are basically for name sake only. The laxity of RTO in conducting a large scale exercise to check such vehicles is reflecting in the polluted environment of once clean and green Doon valley.
