Residents protest over death of man
Dehradun: Irked over death of a 25-year-old person run over by drunk students in a car at Vasant Vihar on February 26, the local residents protested at collectorate and demanded closure of a hostel at Shyampur where the accused was living. later, the protesters met the Dehradun district magistrate BVRC Purushottam and demanded independent inquiry over this incident and verification in all the hostels in the area. The DM directed the district tourism development officer to carry out inspection in hostels along with local police. All the hostel owners need to be directed that except on emergency cases, students are not to be allowed to move outside the hostel after10 pm. In each hostel, students’ entry and exit should be recorded in the register. The owners will be made responsible if any unfortunate incidents occur in their hostel, the DM added.
More facilities at Sahastradhara soon
Dehradun: In order to develop basic facilities at Sahastradhara tourist spot, Dehradun Sub-divisional Magistrate Sonika convened a meeting with the district officials and gave them necessary instructions on Monday. She directed the officials to ensure that all the arrangements are completed at Sahastradhara tourist spot so that tourists who reach there do not face any inconvenience.
