State govt effects administrative rejig
Dehradun: In an administrative reshuffle, one IPS officer and three additional SPs were transferred in the State on Monday. IPS Vimmi Sachdeva who was Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Police Head Quarter has been made additional secretary, Home, government of Uttarakhand. Additional SP Mamta Vohra who was Dehradun SP (Rural) has been made ASP, PHQ. Haridwar SP (City) Jagdish Singh Bhandari has been made Dehradun SP (Rural) while ASP Surjeet Singh Panwar has been made Haridwar SP (City).
Dehradun cops raid illegal hookah bar
Dehradun: Dehradun Police conducted raids at Kukreja Bar under Cantt Police Station area and apprehended eight girls and seven boys allegedly smoking at an unauthorised hookah bar on Monday. After informing their parents regarding same, these youths were released, said Cantt Police Station in-charge VK Jetha. Several minors frequent the hookah bars in the city and smoke, apparently without having to establish their age. The police is conducting raids to dissuade minors from smoking and to warn the bar management against letting them smoke, he added. He further said that reports of school students using the services of these joints are being investigated and the police is finding out where drugs are being used or not.
