Political parties seek maximum use of media
Haldwani: Amid making certain poll strategies ahead of the upcoming 2014 general elections, different political parties’ main focus now seems to be on how to make the most of the media i.e. electronic, print and other version of modern way of communications like twitter, face book to name few. Yet bias of none other than principal Opposition party, the BJP, against some sections of the media particularly the English language newspapers came to the fore when the local unit of BJP Haldwani ignored the English language newspapers at party’s three day long working committee meet which began in Ramnagar on Friday last. Though due coverage was given to the meeting, the BJP Haldwani unit did not give any working committee meeting schedule to cover the said meeting despite asking the official concerned of the BJP media in charge to provide the meeting schedule in advance for coverage. However, when the attention of the Suresh Tiwari, senior BJP leader and co- media in charge of the State BJP, was drawn to this issue, he simply regretted his failure to inform us about the meeting schedule. However, there is no such problem for the local newspapers’ representatives from the media managers of the BJP.

Criticising the UP Government’s decision not to allow the religious leaders and members of the VHP to do the religious ritual i.e. Chaurasi Koshi Parikarma in Ayodhya on Sunday, the agitating VHP members alleged that by banning the Chaurashi Koshi Parikarma by the SP led UP Government has hurt the sentiments of the lakhs of Hindu across the country. The VHP members and the religious leaders wanted to perform a religious ritual in a peaceful manner. But this UP Government did not allow to perform even a religious programme, said Shubhas Joshi, a senior leader of the VHP’s Haldwani unit. The agitating members of the VHP’s Haldwani unit stated that it “is quite disappointing the way the Chaurasi Koshi Parkarima was banned by arresting our several
