Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday said the SAD-BJP Government has no right to remain in power as the “Government which cannot protect itself, and its dignitaries, cannot ensure protection of life and liberty of its citizens”.
PPCC chief said that the judicial proceedings before the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the Tarn Taran case clearly reveal that the Punjab Government and its police chief have little trust in its own forces when it comes to providing security and maintaining vigil.
He also stated, “By doing so, the who’s who of the Punjab Government and the State Police have made it clear that their lives are more precious than those of its citizens; and its police force lacks capacity and capability to protect people.”
“News-reports categorically assert that the Punjab Government and the top brass of the Punjab Police do not depend on their own men for security purposes even the Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal and his family, Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, and even State Director-General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini are among the ones provided with security cover by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” he added.
“Sukhbir’s actions prove beyond doubt that he is incapable of performing the Constitutional duty to protect people,” he added.
SAD ridicules Bajwa’s statement
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal ridiculed the statement of the Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on the security set up being provided to the VVIPs in the State and advised him to get equipped with system before commenting on it.
Reacting to the statement of the Congress leader, SAD secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema informed that there is a established system in the country for providing security to the Chief Ministers of various States and other VVIPs.
“The decisions to provide Z plus security are taken by the Union Home Ministry and not by the State Governments. Does Bajwa want to say is that the decision of the Indian Home Ministry to provide Z plus security to Badal and Sukhbir Badal is wrongIJ,” he said.
SAD also strongly condemned of the efforts of Bajwa to divide security personnel of different forces on regional lines and urged him to desist from issuing such politically motivated statements which hurt the sentiments of the brave soldiers of the State police.
