As many as 20 roads connecting different parts of Bageshwar still remain blocked following landslides caused by heavy rainfall.

Besides, about 84 houses have also been damaged in different parts of the Bageshwar district, said US Rana, ADM and in-charge of disaster management, Bageshwar. However, officials concerned have been asked to expedite works to open the blocked roads as soon as possible, added Rana.Besides, with 633 persons of 127 families belonging to 93 villages being affected and loss of 265 animals, 4.80 hectare agricultural land has also been damaged due to natural calamity or landslides in Bageshwar, added the officials concerned.

In the meanwhile, floods like situation continued to hit the normal life of people in Udham Singh Nagar’s  Sitarganj and Khatima areas.More so, with water level of the Sharda River continuously rising, water has entered in lower areas of Champawat district’s Tanakpur and its adjacent areas, making it tough for the people living along the riverbank side.

Though keeping in view tough flood conditions in Sitarganj and Khatima, temporary arrangements have been made for the affected families in a school building, these arrangements seem to be inadequate to help the affected people, alleged the people affected in this flood.

Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna conducted aerial survey of the flood-hit Sitarganj and Khatima on Thursday, asking the officials concerned of the Udham Singh Nagar district administration. Similar advice has been given to  officials by Kunwar Pranab Singh Champion during his visit to the affected sites both on Thursday and Friday.
