2 watchmen of Haridwar godown found murdered

Two persons — uncle and nephew — who were working as watchmen of a pump and pipe godown at Belri village in Haridwar district were killed after being hit on their heads with sharp weapons on late Friday night. Haridwar SSP Krishan Kumar VK, CO SK Singh and other police officers rushed to the spot and inspected the area. The criminals are reported to have taken  away the DVR of CCTV cameras to escape detection.

Interestingly, laptops and other items kept in the godown aside from pump sets and pipes were untouched, making police struggling for the motive behind the double murder. No arrest has been made so far.  Police said that they are working from several angles to crack the case while hinting that revenge might have been the motive.

Ramesh Gupta, resident of Jadugarh Road, under Civil Police Kotwali area is the owner of the godown. He had employed two watchmen — Inder (70) and his nephew Meghrajaged, (48). They were sleeping at the watch room inside the godown gate on Friday night when they were murdered. Both died on the spot.

Police said that the criminals might have jumped the wall to get into the godown.  The bodies were found on Saturday morning. Roorkee circle officer SK Singh said that  the deceased’s family members have registered a complaint and a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered against unidentified persons in the Kotwali.
