In the National Highway 74 land compensation scam, the special investigation team presented two more accused- suspended Provincial Civil Services officer NS Naganyal and the then land consolidation officer of Bazpur, Amar Singh in the court of the district and special judge (Prevention of Corruption Act) here on Thursday. The two were sent by the court to judicial custody in Nainital jail.

On behalf of the prosecution, advocate Sushil Kumar Sharma stated that the land compensation scam was a serious offence for which the two should be sent to jail. The defence argued that they had been framed as part of a conspiracy. After hearing the both sides, the judge in charge sent the two accused to Nainital jail on judicial custody till February 16. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier the SIT had arrested about a dozen persons including two suspended PCS officers in the NH-74 scam case. The SIT has already filed a chargesheet in the court against 12 accused in this case.
