Two minor girls were allegedly strangled to death by some unidentified persons at their house in Shyampur (Rishikesh area) on Thursday. Their mother and their minor brother aged around eight years were not present in the house when the crime occurred. Their father has been languishing in Suddhowala jail, Dehradun, regarding a crime.
Deceased’s mother Sita who is working as a domestic help registered a complaint following which a case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered against unidentified persons in Rishikesh police station on Thursday.
Police sources said that Sita had gone for her work at around 7 am on Thursday. Her son who had gone to a neighbour’s house had found the bodies lying in the courtyard on his return to the house. He informed his neighbours who contacted police.
The deceased have been identified as Manisha aged about 13 years and Riya aged three years. SP Rural Sarita Dobhal, Rishikesh police station in-charge and other police personnel rushed to the spot on being informed. Forensic investigation squad and dog squad were sent too. Dehradun SP Rural Dobhal said that bodies have been sent for post-mortem. CCTV footages of the area are being reviewed by the team formed for cracking the case. local residents are being asked regarding the incident, she added.
