In connection with abduction of a 13-year girl by her two school mates at Motinagar in Haldwai, Nainital district on Thursday, Nainital police sent the two minor accused to the reformation home after produced him in the court on Friday.
Nainital SSP Sweety Aggarwal beefed up security in the area with the deployment of additional forces at the victim’s house and the neighbourhood area. Taking note of this issue, a case under section 363 of IPC and appropriate sections 3/5 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against the accused in Haldwani police station.
The teenage girl was kidnapped when she had gone out in the neighbourhood to fetch milk on Thursday morning. The local residents had expressed their outrage over the incident and had protested throughout the day over the same issue. The girl was later recovered in the evening of the same day while the culprits were caught and beaten severely by the irked local residents before they handed over them to police.
With police being deployed in the area, local sources averred that the situation had remained sensitive till the time of this report being filed.
