2 dozen connecting roads for Vikas Nagar block soon

Published on:

All those villagers who are living in the remote areas of Vikas Nagar block of Dehradun district have very solid reason to smile as the department has sanctioned more than two dozen connecting roads in the fringe parts of the district.

However, the sanctioning of roads has come at that time when the entire state faced the brunt of the natural calamities. The tall claims made by the department concerned that no stone would be left unturned for repairing the damaged roads and routes proved useless as the several potholes have emerged in the outskirts of the capital city.

Although the department concerned has repaired those roads that were dug up by the nodal agencies for laying the sewage lines and potable water lines, but the situation is equally worst in the remote areas of the district. Even after submitting the memorandum many times to the officials, the roads in the fringe parts of the district are in the pathetic state.  Commuters have to be very cautious while using these roads, as vehicles, especially bikes may skid off the road.

Roads are ridden with stones and cars may get stuck in the slush if it rains. Commuters have to wade through the slush during the rainy season. Dug up roads also generate a lot of dust. Traffic jams, horn honking and utter chaos have been the order of the day on these roads. The condition of the roads in the fringe areas of the district has further deteriorated after experiencing the fresh rainfall and the natural calamities that struck Uttarakand in the month of June.

After considering the plight of the commuters, the a green signal was finally received to the department for carrying the construction of roads in the fringe parts of the State. Among the routes that were sanctioned by the department includes Milk dairy Fatehpur-Saharanpur road, NH-72-Bairagiwala,Shimla road-  Madnipur, Shimla road- Badripur Asan, Prateetpur, Tibetan colony, lakhanwala, Badwala, Dumkot- Hadowala, Saraswati Shishu Mandir Dakpathar, Jamanipur-Barotiwala, Charba-lakhimpur, Dhakrani, Johari, Dhakrani bridge-Heera line,  lakshmipur, Dhakrani-Shaktinagar etc.

It is also equally important to mention here is that the condition of roads between Tyuni-Kathiyan route and Chakrata-lakhamandal route is also worst. After assuring that no stone would be left unturned for construction of roads in the fringe areas of the district, one of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that the construction and repairing work would be started once the weather improves in the near future.
