15% gas connections yet to be linked with DBTl

Out of 50,339 Indane domestic cooking gas consumers, about 8,000 are yet to be linked with the Direct Benefit Transfer lPG (DBTl) scheme in Haldwani and Kathgodam regions of Nainital district. It is to be noted that inspite of the Government’s emphasis on switching over to the online payment of funds under different popular schemes fully from this year, the process of linking domestic cooking gas consumers with the aforesaid DBTl scheme, seems to be slow in the Nainital district.

More so, the process of linking the domestic cooking gas consumers with the DBTl scheme in remote and hilly areas is also reported to be even worse. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) that deals with distribution of the Indane domestic cooking gas in the region, has asked the officials concerned to link all the rest of the domestic cooking gas consumers with the DBTl scheme  by end of March 31. In case of failure of linking the domestic cooking gas consumers with the DBTl scheme, such domestic cooking gas consumers will not be able to avail the subsidy benefits given under this DBTl scheme after the given period of time, maintained the officials concerned.

Meanwhile, in a bid to help the consumers avail the gas subsidy scheme, the Government has already dropped the condition of submitting the Aadhaar card while applying for DBTl scheme. However, since the Government has decided to do online payment of all the popular schemes from 2015 it is, therefore, vital for the officials concerned to cover all the beneficiaries under the DBTl scheme as early as possible, the officials concerned said.
