A 14-year-old girl Puja, native of Darbhanga, Bihar, was found hanging from a tree near Frasi Market, Sahastradhara Road, Rajpur on Saturday morning. Police sent the body for postmortem, said SP City Ajay Singh. This incident has created panic among the local residents.
Rajpur Police Station in-charge sub-inspector Pankaj Pokhriyal said that she was living along with her father, a labourer, in Sahastradhara area. Victim’s parent Kapal Sadda informed the police that his son having gone to relieve himself had found Puja’s body hanging from a tree near Frasi Market area off Sahastradhara Road. According to the parent, she had gone missing on Friday evening. She had not come back home after she had played with her brothers and her neighbours.
However, why the relatives had kept the matter under secrecy is being investigated by the team members formed after this case came into light, Pokhriyal added. He further said that the postmortem report revealed that she had died of hanging. Police are working on several angles to crack the case, he added.
