The flying squads and invigilators have caught 14 candidates involved in examination related malpractices in the Class X and XII board examinations of Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) which concluded on Wednesday. The secretary of Ramnagar based UVSP which conducts the State board examination DK Mathela told The Pioneer that 14 students were caught cheating in this year’s examination which is less than 21 reported last year. Udham Singh Nagar with four cheating cases topped the district-wise list while three cases each were reported from Dehradun and Nainital. Haridwar, Almora, Bageshwar and Uttarkashi reported one case each of examination related malpractices this year. Mathela said that a committee examines all the cases of cheating and takes its decision on case to case basis.
In some cases, the committee recommends ban of four-five years on the candidate from appearing in the examination of the board. He said that UVSP has set up 31 collection centres in all 13 districts of the State from where the answer sheets of the students would be sent to evaluation centres. “The Uttarakhand board adopts a centralised evaluation process and for it we have set up 29 evaluation centre where 10000 evaluators drawn from different schools of State would evaluate the answer sheets of the candidates”, he said.
The evaluation process would start from April 10 and would end on April 25. The board instructs its examiners to follow the stepwise pattern of evaluation for awarding marks to the students. The secretary claimed that the results of the board examinations would be declared any time after May 20. The board had set up 1,304 examination centres in 13 districts of State. Out of which 252 examination centres were categorised as sensitive while 34 were in hyper sensitive category. A total of 1,43,915 and 1,73,226 students were enrolled for Class XII and X examinations respectively this year.
