Three-day long 13th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament-2015 concluded at Nainital on Sunday. Winners were felicitated by Governor Dr KK Paul in the presence of State Chief Minister Harish Rawat in a prize distribution ceremony at the Raj Bhawan.
Ronald Das and Veer Srivastav were declared overall champion and runner-up, respectively. Seven-year old lakshya was declared the youngest golfer and squadron leader (retd) DS Majithia was declared the super-senior golfer.
Appreciating the participants, Paul said that this is a unique game with this tournament bringing together golfers from different places. The participating golfers would publicise the golf course in Nainital as an excellent venue for the game, he hoped.
"To promote Uttarakhand tourism and native culture we are planning to make this game more attractive and will organize this game on a large scale. You will feel this in the next tournament," said the Governor.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat assured that the State would provide all kinds of logistical support to organise golf as per the wish of the Governor so that more and more golfers from national and international levels will come here. This would give a boost to the tourism sector as well, he added.
