On the first two days since the twitter handle@SSP Dehradun came up, around 138 persons have visited the twitter handle of the Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Sweety Aggarwal , recounting the problems they were facing. SSP has directed SP City, SP Rural and all the circle officers to open twitter handles too to use the tool to reach out to the people grappling with grievances.
Earlier, Dehradun police were active on social networking sites like facebook and what’s app, but with the direction of senior officers, the Dehradun police have opened its twitter handlers, facilitating the people to register their concerns on the same.
Police sources said that a team of police personnel headed by local intelligence unit in-charge Inspector Yogesh Chand are operating the twitter handles and are contacting the police stations if things warrant so for swift action. Recently Nehru Colony police post in-charge was suspended for not caring to lodge FIR even after being pressed by the complainant. However, the top police brass acted after the complainant tweeted his grievance straight to the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.
