Bank Fraud Cell of Cyber Crime Police Station has received as many as 130 complaints related to illegal net banking transactions over the past five months. The officials  claimed that they had acted promptly on complaints thus received. They have recovered money worth Rs7,70,632 lost and have returned it to the aggrieved persons in due course, said STF, U’khand SSP P Renuka Devi on Thursday. She said that the police officers of local police stations concerned were directed to register FIRs against the accused regarding such cases promptly. A police officer said that the common people in Dehradun as elsewhere in the State are scared with net banking transactions-related crimes showing a spurt presently. What is happening is that the people are receiving unwanted phone calls daily from myriad sources, some from the banks they are customers of. Those on the other side cajole them into parting with details about the ATM card numbers and passwords, they say. They further say that the callers make them nervous by saying that their cards would be deactivated in case they do not comply.
