With 13 new swine flu cases being reported from the Doon valley on Saturday, the number of the people affected by dreaded H1N1 virus has reached 144.

The district in-charge of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Dr Puneet Chandra said that 13 cases had been found positive on late Friday night.

So far, 16 patients have succumbed to the disease in the district. The spurt in the number of H1N1-affected people during this time of the year has surprised the experts as the disease usually spreads during winter.

The experts  are of the view that the erratic weather conditions like  a sudden fall in the temperature are responsible for the spread of H1N1 virus.
