Acting on a tip-off, the Excise Department officials raided two houses in Azadnagar locality, apprehending two persons and seizing 13 crates of illegal country liquor on Sunday.
The department had received a tip off about some persons with illegal cache of liquor. Acting on this information, assistant excise commissioner Tapan Kumar Pande and excise inspector Sarojpal along with other department staff raided the homes of Mohammed Ashfaq and Mohammed Mushtaq in Azadnagar locality.
Seizing 13 crates of country liquor, the department officials booked the duo under the Excise Act. The two men were later allowed to go on personal bond of Rs 5,000 each.
The assistant excise commissioner informed that the liquor hoarded by the two men had been bought at cheap rates in the recent past when the liquor outlet contracts were to be renewed on March end.
