The GVK EMRI 108 emergency ambulance service has deployed 49 ambulances on Char Dham yatra route this year. The service already has 41 ambulances on the route and it has deployed eight more ambulances on important points of the char dham yatra to ensure quick response in case of any emergency.

The state head of the service, Manish Tinku said that like last year eight additional ambulances are deployed at Badrinath and Pandukeshwar in Chamoli district, Vasukedar, Phata and Soneprayag in Rudraprayag district, Harshil (Gangotri) and Ranachatti (Yamnotri) in Uttarakashi and Kandikhal of Tehri district.

He said that lakhs of devotees visit Char Dhams every year and the incidences like road accidents, respiratory and high blood pressure problems show a marked increase during this period. Tinku said that the 108 is committed towards providing prompt emergency service to the devotees during the yatra.

It is worth mentioning here that only 10 ambulances were deployed on the char dham yatra circuit in the year 2008. It was the year when the GVK EMRI 108 service started its operation in the state of Uttarakhand.
