About six months after the June disaster in Uttarakhand, the Congress-led State Government has failed to provide relief and rehabilitation to around 10,000 disaster-affected people of the State. About 300 villages, are yet to be connected with road,” alleged Bharatiya Janata Party national president Rajnath Singh, while addressing the public at Parade Ground in Dehradun on Sunday.
Criticising the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre, Rajnath said that it has failed to control price rise of essential commodities and has raised the price of lPG cylinder which has upset the budget of the common man across the country. However, during six years in power, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre had managed to control price rise in the country, he claimed.
lauding the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Rajnath said, “Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, BJP organised ‘Run for Unity’ at 1,150 places across the country to mark the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Patel had played significant role in uniting 565 States (riyasat) of the country after Independence. With the involvement of huge number of youth in the ‘Run for Unity’ across the country, this has not only become biggest such run in the country but across the globe.”
Singh said that with the declaration of recent Assembly poll results in five States- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, the Congress has lost trust of the people in these States in particular and across the country in general. Although they formed Government in Mizorum, which is a consolation prize for congress. While BJP managed to form government in three states and won highest seats in Delhi assembly election. “I appeal the people of Uttarakhand to give all the five seats to BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi so that BJP can form the government under his leadership,” he added.
The BJP national president said that there was huge loss of life and property in the 2001 earthquake of Gujarat but under the leadership of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, the worst affected Kutch and Bhuj have become developed districts of Gujarat. In Uttarakhand disaster, around 5, 000 people of various states died and with the help of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Paramilitary Forces, around 37, 000 affected persons were evacuated. He alleged that the State Government has failed to provide relief and rehabilitation to around 10, 000 affected people of the State.
Congress led UPA Government at centre has become a burden for the country as its leaders are involved in several scams like Bofors, purchase of helicopters and other scams. Scams amounting to Rs 5.5 lakh crore occurred in the Congress led UPA Government at centre. “Not a single BJP leader was involved in corruption in the six year rule of NDA led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee at centre. India can become economic power of the world if a PM like Atal Bihari Vajpayee forms the government at centre for ten years. Modi is like Vajpayee," he added.
Singh alleged that Congress party has even failed to honour Indian soldiers. Manmohan Singh led UPA government has not acted on Pakistan which sent a headless body of Indian soldier to India. Indian soldiers are capable of winning any battle if they are directed to do so. Congress Government has failed to implement one pay one rank for soldiers.
“BJP in Uttarakhand had not formed the Government because we had not secured majority. We do not believe in horse trading so we have decided to sit in opposition”, he added. Commenting on Chinese aggression, Rajnath Singh said that after INdo china war Henderson and Brook committee was formed to find out the cause of war.
