One person died and two others were injured seriously when the two separate bikes they were on were hit by a bus coming from the opposite direction at Panwata Road, near Dhaki village under Sahaspur police station area on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ghyan Singh Pundir, a patwari and resident of langha, Sahaspur. Police sent the injured to the local hospital.
They were later transferred to Doon Hospital. The police impounded the bus and the teams were formed to nab the driver who fled after the incident.
The accident occurred when a bus coming from opposite direction collided with two bikes near a petrol pump, Sahaspur. The bus was going towards Vikasnagar from Dehradun. Three persons were sitting on the two bikes. They were coming towards Dehradun. One died on the spot and two others- Jawahar Singh and Purna Singh-were injured seriously.
Irked over the incident, the local residents vented anger over increasing accidents caused by the menace of over -speeding in the area. They blocked the road for around an hour.
The protesters said that the accidents are on the rise on daily basis in Dehradun district. Police sent the body of the deceased had been sent for postmortem.
