‘GDMC’s OPD building work undertaken on war footing’

Published on:

The work on the new OPD building of the GDMC hospital near Tehsil Chowk started in 2015.

However, delay in budget and subsequent issues with the work executing agency UPRNL resulted in long delay in completion of the work. The project manager UPRNL, D S Rana said that the work was undertaken on a war footing over the last two months.

He said that the OPD building would have two wings out of which work on the first wing is completed while work in other one would also be completed soon. In the first phase, the hospital plans to shift registration counter, administration office and some OPDs in the new building. In the second phase, blood bank, remaining OPDs and central lab would be shifted.

The new building is very spacious with rooms for doctors, huge waiting rooms, lecture theatre. The whole building would have central cooling and heating mechanism.
