The Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly Premchand Agarwal has said that elaborate planning and immaculate strategy of Indian camp thwarted the plan of Pakistani delegates to raise the issue of Kashmir in the recently concluded 64th conclave of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Uganda. Talking to the mediapersons at Vidhan Sabha on Monday, the speaker said that the Indian delegates to the conference were informed about the
possibility of Pakistan using the opportunity to raise the issue of Kashmir.
He said that a strategy was then evolved to prevent Pakistan from doing so.
The chairperson of the executive council of CPA and Member of Parliament of Cameroon Amelia Lefafa and other officials were told clearly by the Indian delegation that no country should be allowed to raise internal issue of any other country. The Indian delegates also met representative of other countries and the firm stance of India on the issue was reiterated.
Agarwal informed that the Indian stand was appreciated and Pakistan was not allowed to raise the issue in any of the sessions. He added the one Pakistani representative used objectionable language when the Indian delegation led by the Lok Sabha speaker entered the conference but he was told in no uncertain terms that the Bharat Mata was and will reign supreme in any eventuality. Agarwal added that during the conference, all the delegates irrespective of party affiliations showed remarkable synergy in putting forward the stand on the country. He especially listed the speech of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary in this context. The conference of CPA was organised at Kampala, the capital of Uganda from September 22 to 29. In the conference representatives of 52 countries participated. The conference was formally inaugurated by the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni on September 26. In his address, the President appealed the member countries to use their resources for increasing foreign investment, cultural exchanges and security. In a session on climate change the Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly said India is committed to reduce carbon emission by use of technologies of clean energy.
