In the presence of Governor Baby Rani Maurya, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat released the Raj Bhawan publication ‘Devbhoomi Samvad’ here on Monday.
The Governor said that it was a matter of honour for her to be given the opportunity to serve Devbhoomi- Uttarakhand as the Governor.
She said that her priority is to contribute in the all-round development of Uttarakhand while upholding constitutional responsibilities and traditions.
“Within three months of taking oath of office as the governor, I toured all the districts and interacted with the public. The women of this state have specially impressed me. From the creation of the state to all aspects of its development, the women have played a major role,” said Maurya. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister appreciated the publication of Devbhoomi Samvad, stating that it was a good attempt at documentation of the activities of the Raj Bhawan. The role of the Raj Bhawan is always that of a patron and guide. The governor always remains alert towards the interests of the general public, especially women and children, said Rawat. The Governor’s secretary Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu said that this publication was the first such attempt after creation of the State.
In the past the Raj Bhawan had come out with two coffee table books and a book comprising selected convocation addresses of the previous Governor. However, this is the first documentation of all programmes related to the governor and her speeches.
This first edition of Devbhoomi Samvad contains information about public programmes, meets and important meetings of the Governor in the first six months of her tenure.
Information department deputy director Nitin Upadhyaya informed that in addition to details of the programmes of the Governor during the first six months of her term, the 168-page publication also comprises her important speeches and convocation addresses.
An attempt will be made to further improve upon this in the coming issues, he said.
