‘Desperate Cong making baseless allegations’

Stumped by their defeat in the recent parliamentary elections, the Congress leaders in Uttarakhand are resorting to reviving old and baseless allegations against chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. The allegations leveled by the Congress leader in a Press conference on Tuesday show that the party is conspiring to cause political instability in the state though its attempts are bound to fail, said the Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesman Virendra Singh Bisht.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Bisht said that Karan Mahra’s Press conference shows that he is baffled by his brother in-law’s (Harish Rawat) defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. He said, “The Congress is so desperate that it simply repeated the allegations levelled by the person who had screened a sting operation CD in Delhi about five-six months ago. The national media did not pay much attention to the allegations at that time so they resorted to spreading the allegations through social media. Now, by using that same sting operation CD to level baseless allegations on the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Congress is conspiring to bring in political instability in the state but it will not succeed in this. The Congress has also proved that it too was somehow involved in the conduct of the sting operation which was carried out with a political motive.”

The BJP state spokesman further alleged that the actions of the Congress were due to the strong actions taken by the chief minister against corruption as part of the State government's policy of zero tolerance for corruption. Bisht said, “The Congress leaders are anxious as the names of some of their relatives are also coming up in the corrupt dealings against which the state government has taken stern action. However, the State government will not bow down to the attempt being made by the Congress to exert pressure and bring in political instability through such baseless and false allegations,” he stressed.
