Himachal Governor Acharya Devvrat on Sunday said it was a matter of great concern that today youth were indulging in bad habits like drugs and smoking.

Being the future of the country, their energy should be channelized in constructive activities and it could be possible only by imparting them moral education and cultural knowledge, the Governor said while presiding over Arya Maha Sammelan at Rohtak in Haryana.

He said that Arya Samaj has always played a leading and important role in removing the social evils from society.

He appreciated Haryana for propagating the knowledge of vedas in the society and said that all possible help would be provided for ved prachar activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganga Prasad, Governor Meghalaya said that vedas were the treasure troves containing spiritual knowledge encompassing all aspects of our life.

He said that the word veda means wisdom, knowledge or vision and it was revered as the language of the God in human speech. He appealed to follow the path shown by great saint Rishi Dayanand.

Rishi simplified the teachings of veda in his book ' Satyarth Prakash' to the mankind, added Prasad.

Satya Pal Singh, Union Human Resource Development Minister stressed on vedic tradition and urged to read vedas to lead a better life as vedas only show the path of truth. Vedas were for all humanity and knowledge were endless, he said.

Mahashay Dharampal, leading businessman and owner of MDH also spoke on the occasion.
