Former Test cricketer Yograj Singh, father of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who was arrested and bailed out in a brawl case, on Thursday denied the charges levelled against him by a retired Chandigarh police DSP.

Addressing media persons here, he claimed there had been injustice by the local police officials and his family was also harassed. Yograj said he had decided to send his entire family abroad. “I have decided to initiate a movement against police high-handedness,” he said. His sister Kuljeet Kaur said, “I will never come back to India.”

On Sunday, Yograj , a cricketer-turned-actor, and his relative, Bhupinder Singh, were arrested from Panchkula after a brawl over car parking with a retired DSP’s family.

Yograj’s cousin sister, Kuljeet Kaur, had recently come from England. There was a birthday party at their residence in Sector 2, Panchkula. However, a scuffle broke out with a retired DSP, Asha Nand, and his two sons, Sunil and Amit, who are lawyers. The scuffle took place over the issue of parking.

Following the argument, they called Yograj and a fight broke out between Yograj and the opposite side, said police officials.

Meanwhile, cross FIRs was lodged under various Sections of IPC and four persons, including Yograj and one of his associates, and one more person were taken into custody from the opposite side.

Alleging partisan approach of the police, Kuljeet Kaur said that after the brawl, she rushed to the local police station but was refused any help by the officials on duty. “Instead of taking action against the accused persons, police registered a case on my family also. There was lot of pressure made by the higher police officials as we were demanding action against the retired DSP of police,” added Kuljeet.
