Yogendra Yadav losing ground in Haryana?

Published on:

After the ouster from Aam Aadmi Party’s Political Affairs Committee, senior party leader and in-charge of Haryana, Yogendra Yadav has lost his support base in the region. Party sources said none of the senior leaders in the region, especially from the neighbouring Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, has given consent to join Yadav’s proposed campaign Jai Kisan Abhiyan in Panchkula on March 8 on the land Acquisition Bill.

None of the four AAP Members of Parliament from Punjab are expected to join the campaign.  However, Rajeev Godara, Chief Spokesperson, AAP Haryana, ruling out such assumptions, said, “this campaign has nothing to do with the neighbouring States and it is entirely for Haryana”. On the likelihood of party leader and actress Gul Panag Panag being absent, he said, “she is not here, hence, not going to attend the campaign”.

Opposition against Yadav has gradually been building up after he opposed some of the decisions of party supremo Arvind Kejriwal.  Naveen Jai Hind senior leader of party from Rohtak in Haryana had complained against Yadav to Kejriwal during recent lok Sabha elections.

Even senior advocate and AAP leader HS Phoolka, from ludhiana, in Punjab, had also tweeted against Yadav a few days ago.  Due to Yadav’s differences with others, which was conspicuous in the last parliamentary elections, party had lost all the ten seats of lok Sabha in Haryana. Even, Yadav himself couldn’t win his Gurgaon seat in 2014 lok sabha elections, whereas in neighboring State Punjab, party won four seats.

Now, after Yadav’s conflict with Kejriwal, senior leaders and even the party workers have started making distance from Yadav to show their loyalty towards the party supremo. Due to lack of support, Yadav, struggling for his political base may not get big crowd for his ongoing month long campaign at Panchkula.

Godara said in the proposed campaign at Panchkula on March 8, Yadav will lead a protest march from Mata Mansa Devi Singh Dwaar to local MP Rattan lal Kataria’s residence in Sector 4, MDC at Panchkula against the land Acquisition Bill and scarcity of urea.

Yadav would also give salt packets to Kataria to remind him the promises made to farmers before the parliamentary elections on this occasion. Yadav had already organised five such campaigns of Jai Kisan Abhiyan’ in a month at Gurgaon, Karnal, Sonepat, Faridabad and Bhiwani, and at Panchkula it will be his sixth campaign.
