To promote yoga, Haryana Government would open yoga centres in jurisdictions of each Municipal Committees, Municipal Councils and Municipal Corporations in the entire State.
“In its first phase, one yoga centre would be opened in the area of each Municipal Committee, two within jurisdiction of each Municipal Council and four in each Municipal Corporation,” said Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Anil Vij on Tuesday.
Vij said through these yoga centres, senior citizens, women, youth and children of urban areas would be encouraged to practice yoga.
He said in those areas where adequate space would be made available, yoga centres would be made operational with immediate effect and where both space or building are not available, arrangements would be made for the same.
The construction of 800 Vyayam and Yogashalas in various districts would begin during this month and all the 21 districts would be covered so as to achieve the goal of equitable development, said he.
The recruitment process of 1,000 yoga trainers for these vyayam and yogshalas has been initiated. Further, to adopt the slogan of ‘Sports for all’ in letter and spirit, 662 coaches of various disciplines of sports would be recruited on contract basis, he informed.
Vij added that those coaches, who are at present posted in Sports Department, would also be given yoga training. The certification of Quality Council of India would be necessary for yoga trainers.
