After being let off by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a case pertaining to singing vulgar songs on Thursday, Punjabi singer Honey Singh said that he wants to bring Grammy Awards in India
The singer made headlines after the 2012 Delhi Gang Rape incident, when he was alleged of composing songs in which the heinous act of rape was being glorified. Protest followed after the news spread like wild fire and even one of his concerts was disrupted in the national capital. However, Honey Singh was overjoyed after his name was cleared from the case and he was seen talking on phone with his well wishers. With a glee on his face, he told The Pioneer, “I had faith in the judicial system of my country and now after this verdict my belief has been further strengthened.”
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday absolved the singer from all the charges that were levelled against him as the prosecution failed to produce enough evidences and the only evidence that the prosecution had was a Youtube Video.
The court maintained in its verdict that Youtube is a public domain and anybody can upload a video on this website. So without authentic data to validate that the video was uploaded by the singer himself, he cannot be charged for the crime. However the court insisted that the cyber crime department should carry out a thorough investigation and find out the culprits.
Honey Singh who has been time and again the focal point of the paparazzi concerning one controversy or the other said, “My enthusiasm to pursue a career in singing was never deterred. Even after my family members went against me, I was firm to make a name in the arena of music. However this incident shattered me as an individual and for a time being I thought that my family was right. I made it a point that I won’t allow another one from my Family to choose singing as a profession.”
On being asked why most of his songs have vulgar lyrics, the singer said, “I think what people pursue as vulgarity in my song is something that is very much a part of the contemporary Indian society and am just showing a mirror to the people through my songs. The Indian Music industry has been serving such songs to its audiences for long who in turn have applauded those songs.”
The singer added, “I am not a literature student I don’t rummage through the pages of books to get my lyrics. I compose from what I see around me and in turn my songs depict the reality prevailing in the society.”
Honey Singh who is a famous rapper and nicknamed as Yo Yo Honey singh among the youth, said the Delhi concert was not disrupted but called off. I was disturbed by the fact that a FIR has been lodged against me in which I was alleged of singing vulgar songs. Fearing the fact that some hooligans might carry out act of vandalism at the venue I cancelled the concert, because for the safety of my fans is of utmost priority.
The Singer thanked the whole bollywood fraternity for their support and he especially mentioned Akshay Kumar for standing beside him during the hour of need. On the other hand he vented out his abhorrence towards some Punjabi Singers who tried to cash upon the situation and left no stone unturned to malign his image.
He said, “People from Bollywood extended their support and I am grateful to Akshay Kumar who stood by me during the adversities I was facing. But on the other hand some people disowned me and I am surprised by the inferiority complex that they suffer from. I am unaware of the fact as to why the people in my state are so much against me. However I will return to Punjab by organizing few charitable concerts and will win the hearts of my fan once again.” While stepping in his car the Singer said that all the struggle was part of success and someone has rightly said that to reach the pinnacle of success one have to pass through crest and troughs.
