Yadav asks AAP workers to put an end to infighting

Published on:

Days after he was dropped from AAP’s Political Affairs Committee, Yogendra Yadav on Sunday said he wants an end to the infighting in the party. “A lot of things have happened in the last few days...I have requested all party workers that whatever happens, do not lose faith and hope in the party and its idea,” said he while talking to the mediapersons here.

“I have told party men no more questions and answers. It is enough. Now work is to be done. We have not come here to fight with each other, we are here to remove corruption,” he said. Yadav was here in connection with the party’s ‘Jai Kisan Abhiyan’, which was launched last month against the BJP Government in the State and the Centre to oppose “anti-farmer” policies of the party.

Refusing to comment on the party’s internal matters, Yadav said, “I know a lot of things have come out in the media during the past few days. It was Holi season. Colours were thrown and mud was also thrown. Now Holi festival is over and now work is to be started.” Asked about AAP leader Mayank Gandhi’s threat to quit, he said, “I don’t want to take this matter further”.

Gandhi had on Saturday threatened to quit, accusing a “small group of party decision-makers” in Delhi of targeting him for decrying removal of Prashant Bhushan and Yadav from the party’s Political Affairs Committee. Meanwhile, Yadav slammed the BJP-led Haryana Government for coming out with a ‘White Paper on State Finances’, saying it was “unfair” on the part of the Government to come out with public documents.

“They (BJP) should have known before hand (the fiscal situation of State). These (White Paper) are just public documents. First, you promise a lot of things in your election manifesto and then you say it is not possible (to fulfill promises) based on these documents. It is cheating,” said the senior AAP leader.

Accusing the BJP-led Haryana Government of adopting “anti-farmer” stance by reducing compensation for land acquisition by half, the AAP leader said that the party will not allow acquisition of even one acre of land under the new rules in the State and will take every step to protect the interest of farmers.

Yadav also announced that the party will intensify its ongoing Jai Kisan Abhiyan campaign by taking it to village and block level in the State in the second phase. “We hereby warn Haryana Government that we will not allow acquisition of even one acre of land in the State under the new rules whereby compensation for land has been reduced by 50% ... We will not allow any discrimination against farming community in the State,” he added.
