Amid the resentment among members of Sikh community over the cancellation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s scheduled visit to a Gurudwara in Karnal, he made it clear that he would not visit any Gurudwara which has the photo of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, the Khalistan ideologue.
“Although I have a deep respect for Gurughars but I would not visit any Gurudwara as has the photo of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. We would never allow to disturb the peaceful situation in Haryana,” said the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons here, when asked to comment over the protest by members of Sikh community following the cancellation of his scheduled visit to a Gurudwara in Dachar village last week.
Sensing protest by members of the Sikh community over the same issue, Manohar Lal had on Tuesday also cancelled his visit to another village – Dabri- of his Karnal constituency.
Manohar Lal’s decision had added to the anger of residents in Sikh dominated villages of his constituency, who had announced to boycott BJP leaders, until the Chief Minister tenders his apology at the Gurudwara in Dachar village.
On Thursday, he clarified that during his visit to 13 tiraths (pilgrim places) falling under 48 kos parikarma recently, he was invited to the Gurudwara falling in district Karnal.
