A 40-year-old woman was killed after being run over by a train on Phagwara-Nawanshahr rail section at Phagwara in Punjab.
A Government Railway Police (GRP) official said that the incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Ratan Kaur, a resident of Pipa Rangi here, was crossing the rail track unmindful of the approaching train, he said.

In another case in Phagwara, a 17-year-old boy on Sunday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house in the Model Town area.
Dimanshu Anand, a senior secondary student, was found hanging from the fan when a family member went to his room, City Station House Officer (SHO) Bharat Masih ladhar said.
No suicide note was found, the SHO said.
The body has been sent to a hospital for a postmortem examination, he added.
