What happened to `600 cr loan taken Bank of Japan, Capt asks Punjab Govt

Published on:
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday asked the State Government to explain as what happened to `600 crore it had taken as loan from the Bank of Japan for laying out the drainage system in Amritsar.
Capt Amarinder, reacting to the flooding of the entire Amritsar city due to heavy rain on Thursday, said that the State Government owed an explanation to the people of Amritsar as what did it do with that money which has to be paid back to the bank.
The Amritsar MP announced that the Congress Government will inquire into it and find out where the money has been siphoned off. “Had the money, taken as loan, been utilised properly, Amritsar would not have faced the problem of flooding and water logging like it faced today,” he said.
Capt Amarinder pointed out that if this can happen to the holy city of Amritsar, which is visited everyday by thousands of people from across the world, one can well imagine the plight of other places in the State.
