Virbhadra pandering to smear campaign, says BJP

lashing out at the two Cabinet Ministers who blamed former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his family for getting involved in the politics of character assassination, State BJP on Friday blamed CM Virbhadra Singh for initiating such acts. “It is not the culture of BJP but of Congress, especially Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to indulge in politics of mudslinging and character assassination,” said BJP spokesperson Ganesh Dutt, reacting to the statements issued by Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri and Excise Minister Prakash Chaudhary.

Both Bharmouri and Chaudhary had on Thursday said BJP and Dhumal family members are indulging in politics of character assassination. The Ministers had also trashed the allegations levelled by Arun Dhumal, younger son of Dhumal against Virbhadra Singh and his son. “One should not expect that they can keep on issuing wrong statements and other side will not reciprocate,” added Dutt. He said the Government had been indulging in character assassination of former Chief Minister and his family for past 10 months.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) had become a top priority of the Government instead of developmental work, he alleged. “Virbhadra Singh and his Cabinet Ministers are repeatedly giving public statements against HPCA despite the fact that the matter is still sub-judice and any public statement amounts to the contempt of court,” added Dutt. He said the Government was in a state of chaos. Its Ministers were fighting in Cabinet meets. Instead of affixing accountability and priority, the Government was promoting political corruption. Dutt alleged that in the past 10 months, over 60,000 transfers had taken place. It had failed on all fronts and people would give the Congress a befitting reply.
