Former Himachal Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal launched a frontal attack on Virbhadra Singh Government for crippling the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State. The people of the State were not getting ration through the PDS network for the last about two months, he alleged on Friday
Addressing a public meeting at Dharampur in favour of Anurag Thakur, Dhumal blamed the Congress had been indulging in mudslinging and witch-hunting and making false cases against BJP leaders since it came to power accidentally because of faulty distribution of tickets. It was an open secret that Congress would face humiliating defeat, he said.
Dhumal said it was funny that those allegedly involved in mega scams were talking about eradication of corruption which was rampant in the State. He reminded the Congress leaders that people had X-ray eyes and they would not forgive Congress for its political sins and mega scams which had rocked the country.
He made a clarion call to the people of the State to make Himachal Congress free by weeding out the dirty and slavish hegemony of the former rulers like Virbhadra Singh. “People of Himachal Pradesh will go down in the eyes of the people if they voted for royals like Pratibha Singh, the wife of Chief Minister. An irreparable damage will be caused to the voters of Mandi Parliamentary constituency. Do not get beguiled by the false propaganda by Congress as UPA Government was being replaced by Narendra Modi,” he cautioned.
“let you decide to go with Raja or a dedicated worker of the BJP, Ram Swaroop Sharma, from Mandi Parliamentary constituency, with unblemished political background of 25 years service with dedication and devotion,” Dhumal said. He charged that Congress had been meeting out step-motherly treatment to Himachal Pradesh. It was UPA-led Congress which withdrew special economic package granted to Himachal Pradesh by former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Congress deprived the hilly State of its rightful share in power project built on the soil of the State with loan and grants by the Central Government. Even when the BJP Government after long legal battle won its case in the Supreme Court the beneficiary States of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan were creating bottlenecks in the implementation of the decision of the apex court. “let the people of Himachal Pradesh punish Congress for its political sins against the people of the poor hill State on May 7,” exhorted Dhumal.
