Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Wednesday lashed out at Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for adopting “autocratic and dictatorial” attitude against his detractors and political opponents by framing false cases against them out of political vengeance and rivalry.
Hailing the order of Himachal Pradesh High Court on the HPCA imbroglio, he expressed hope and confidence on the role of the Judiciary, which had been playing a pivotal role in upholding democratic values by bridling the unfettered politicians blinded by power.
“The BJP leaders all over the State had borne the brunt of the wrath of Virbhadra Singh, who had been ruling the State like a dictator by throwing to winds all democratic norms and political ethics,” he told The Pioneer in an interview.
Dhumal lamented that Virbhadra Singh was undoing what BJP had achieved during its rule. “We brought Himachal on the international map of cricket and got many awards for outstanding development by noted national and international agencies” he said.
The former Chief Minister said truth had been vindicated by the High Court order and strictures on the Government over the “shameful and shabby manner” in which the Dharamsala Cricket Stadium and other properties of the HPCA were “illegally possessed” by the State Government in a midnight operation making a mockery of law. Any other person in his place would have resigned on moral grounds”, Dhumal asserted.
The leader of Opposition said the Congress Government, with the same retaliatory venom, had taken over the possession of the land of Yoga Guru Ram Dev in Solan by power. He said the Congress all over the country was perpetrating atrocities against saints and showering benevolence on scamsters. “Santon Pe Sitam Aur Shaitano Pe Karam,” he said.
Dhumal said he had least hesitation to say that Congress came to power in Himachal Pradesh merely by “default” and by our own blunders which had taught us a bitter lesson for the coming 2014 general elections in which many so-called Congress stalwarts were bound to forefeet their security deposits.
He claimed that pro-Modi wave was sweeping across the state and on coming to power at the centre all scams would be probed and the guilty would be brought to book. He said there were documentary evidences with the CBI against those who claim to be honest.
