Lashing out at the farmers’ leaders for not engaging in dialogue with the Central Government over the issue of three farm laws, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Friday said these people are not in the favor of farmers’ welfare and have some other agenda.
“They (farmers’ leaders) are not coming forward for talks despite repeated invitations by the Central Government to resolve their issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar have invited them for talks but they (farmers’ leaders) have a different
agenda,” said Vij while talking to the
mediapersons.
He said that in democracy, all issues are resolved through dialogue and farmers’ issues will also be resolved through dialogue only.
“The farmers should ask their leadership what progress has been made during the last one year of their agitation. The farmers were brought from their homes and have been sitting on dharnas since last year,” the Minister.
“This is an internal matter of farmers’ unions. But if farmers’ leaders are not able to negotiate, they should think of changing their leadership,” Vij said.
Dialogue is the only solution to resolve the issue of farmers, he added.
Notably, the farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have been protesting against the three agri laws at the Delhi borders since November 26 last year. The protesting farmers have been opposing public events of ruling BJP-JJP leaders across Haryana.
The SKM has announced to observe one year of the agitation against the three laws and 500 farmers will participate in a peaceful tractor march to Parliament every day during Winter Session starting November 29. Earlier in March too, the farmers had taken out a “foot march” to Parliament to oppose the contentious three farm laws.
