A day after Congress Deputy leader in lok Sabha and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh warned the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre against robbing Punjab of its waters, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Friday hit back at the Congress leader terming the statement as “negative thinking”. Vij said that Haryana would get its due share of water in the Satluj Yamuna link Canal. “We are always ready to solve inter-State and other issues while maintaining peace in the State”, said Vij while speaking to mediapersons in Kurukshetra. Commenting on the issue of SYl, Capt. Amarinder had a day before said, “Come what may, today we warn Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti not to fiddle with fire lest it would spiral out of everybody’s control.”
Vij while lashing out at Amarinder, said that the thinking of Congress and Capt Amrinder Singh had always been negative on inter-State issues. “Our thinking is positive and constructive and we will ensure that the people of Haryana get their due. Haryana has legitimate right over the SYl Canal water and the Congress cannot deprive the state of its rightful share in river waters”, said Vij. Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti had on Tuesday assured Haryana for preparing a roadmap within 45 days to find a solution to the SYl canal issue with Punjab. The dispute over various issues including river waters, has time and again erupted between the two neighbouring States— Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, referring to drug addiction issue, Vij said the State Government is concerned about the menace.
A special scheme is being evolved to make the state drug- free and save the youth from the addiction. The Health Minister also directed SPs and concerned officers to take stern action against those found indulging in the drug trade. Providing good governance to people is top priority of the State Government and a number of initiatives have been taken in this regard, he added.
