Vij asks IPS Bharti Arora to reconsider decision to resign

Days after senior IPS officer Bharti Arora sought voluntary retirement from the service citing personal grounds, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has asked her to reconsider the decision.

“I have received the file regarding Arora's request for voluntary retirement. I have made comments on it that Bharti Arora is an excellent officer of Haryana Police. The Police is proud of her so she should be asked to reconsider his decision,” Vij said while talking to the mediapersons in Ambala.

Arora had on July 28 sought voluntary retirement stating that she wishes to achieve the ultimate goal of life and yearn to traverse the path shown by the Holy Saints.

During her service of 23 years, Arora, as SP Ambala in 2009 had made headlines for arresting the then BJP MLA Vij, who is now the state Home Minister.

The Home Minister's comments on her retirement request came just two days after he expressed unhappiness over not relieving another IPS officer, DGP Manoj Yadava from the state. Yadava, a Haryana-cadre IPS officer of the 1988 batch, had in June sought premature repatriation to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) citing career considerations and family requirements.

While the State Government had decided to relieve him by July 31, the process was delayed following which Vij expressed his unhappiness over the delay through a letter to Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajeev Arora in this regard.
