Besides the Vice-President, the State Government has also extended the invites to other dignitaries and eminent personalities, including the President Ram Nath Kovind.

“Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu will attend the special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on November 6, 2019, to commemorate the 550th prakash purb of Guru Nanak Dev ji,” said Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana Kanwar Pal Singh on Tuesday.

“Other dignitaries and eminent personalities have also been invited to attend the special session which would be wholly dedicated to mark the historic day,” said Rana KP, while talking with the media personnel after administering oath to the newly-elected SAD MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali.

Notably, the Punjab Cabinet had decided last week on Thursday decided to convene a special session of the assembly to commemorate the 550th prakash purab.

Cabinet, in its meeting on September 11, had also resolved to convene a special session of the state assembly next month, and decided to invite President Ram Nath Kovind and eminent Sikh personalities to address the session.

The session would focus completely on the Sikhs’ first guru during which no legislative work or discussion on other matters would be conducted. All the legislators have been requested to participate in the honour of the great Guru.
