Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swamy Nischalananda Saraswati Peethedheeshwar of Rig Vedic Goverdhan Monastery of Eastern Region Puri, Orissa, on Monday said that “the tumultuous times we are living in demand a balanced and holistic way of life that the Vedic culture has”.
Talking to reporters, here he said in the era of rocket, computers and mobile phones, Vedic culture is the guiding light that keeps one anchored to the roots.
“The Vedic culture has the best of things imbibed in agriculture science practices, water resources management, food, science, living, clothing, education, health, modes of communication, festivities and festivals, defence, services, justice and marriage institution,”he said.
The Shankaracharya said, “It’s the Vedic culture that gave world economics, religion, kamasutra, salvation fundamentals, political sciences and good governance. Despite being the successor of such rich culture, we are unable to live a quality and purposeful life as we have forgotten the simple and modest way of living.”
He added that even in India before independence, our forefathers conserved more than 80 percent of our heritage and traditions.
But 67 years after attaining freedom, we have miserably lost this 80 percent rich culture we had inherited and sadly enough all this is being done in the name of development, he said.
Coming down heavily on the political parties he said that none of the political parties are working towards conservation of Indian society. Putting all the political parties in one bracket, Shankrachayra added that the foreign powers were using these political parties to destroy the epicenters of Hinduism. And for doing so, Hindu leaders and Hindu oriented parties are being brought forth.
