Punjab Government has decided to re-start the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) for regularisation of unauthorised water supply and sewerage connection in the urban areas of the State. The scheme would continue till July 31, 2016.
Earlier too, numerous people availed this scheme in order to get their connections regularised, said the State local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi on Thursday.
He said: “Now, with the re-commencement of the scheme and the regularization of un-authorized connections, all local bodies would be cash rich.” Joshi said that regular charges would be levied every year so that the local bodies do not have to face financial crunch and basic facilities could be provided to the people of Punjab.
For the purpose, the Minister instructed all the urban local bodies to spare no effort in making people aware about this scheme in order to ensure that maximum people are able to regulariSe their connections.
He also appealed to the people to avail the scheme in maximum numbers and get their connections regularised.
